NEWS:

  • The Candlelighter available on the link at left
  • Our 45th annual convention, held at Eureka Springs, Arkansas just concluded. For those who were unable to attend, you missed a great time. In our business meeting we elected Hank Furman as our new President, Caralee Roberts as our new Vice President and Jim Ellis our new Treasurer. The position of Secretary is currently held by Alice Marquardt with her current term expiring next year.
  • The convention was filled with numerous helpful workshops with plenty of time to network with those that share our common passion of candle creations. Our convention hostess, Cricket Huth and co-hostess, Charlotte Curtis did a super job of arranging the convention facility and planning of meals.
  • During our meeting we discussed the need for a convention host for 2011, our options were to repeat at either Eureka Springs, Arkansas or the Amana Colonies in Iowa. After some discussion I agreed to submit this request to our general membership for other members, not in attendance, to consider submitting a bid to host our next convention in his or her community.
  • To act as host or hostess, you will need to visit facilities in your community that can provide hotel/motel rooms, meeting rooms and have the ability to provide meals to the attendees. We have not as yet settled on a date for next year, however, in the past these conventions are held during the spring or early summer. Our past convention chairpersons will be happy to assist you in developing data for consideration by the IGCA board.
